If not a Honda or Toyota, Scions Ma, the TC would be great but it is kinda like gettin another sports car albeit better gas mileage and regular fuel. Mazdas other than the Miata are not rated well, sister in law had one P.O.S. I like the fit, saw one at a dealer Friday, the wife doesn't. She calls it a shi_box. She said she doesn't like small cars. I reminded her the S is a small car. She said, no, it's a sportscar! Smart girl... I had a Tercel some years ago. Called it the little car from hell. Man that car flew and had great gas mileage even doin 90 back-n-forth to work on the highway.

They're old and they don't work as well as the newer ones but there's that "character" thing again....just like people......aka vintage.

Did anyone catch the show on speed i think it was. Skunk2 hooked up a Fit. And it did awesome on the track. Think it was on tuner vision or something where 3 different manufactures take 3 different cars spend so much on them then test them in different events. I'll try to look it up on utube. Yep here it is.

There's a smart car dealership out here, and I went and sat in one, and it was REALLY comfortable, I was surprised. But I passed one on the highway in my lowered S the other day, and it was so so tiny, I could just never feel safe in one...

Can't believe Mazda is ahead in this poll... Didn't even think it would be close. Mazda versus Scion, no comparison, at least if quality and reliability matter. For me Honda and Toyota are the only way to go but if another, Scion, Toyota's offspring...

Vez--
Went through the same decision process myself... Opted for a Toyota Yaris.. Cute little spud, and stupid-good mileage... Check out the Yaris forums... Folks are routinely getting over 40 MPG... MIne is a stripper with (gack!) roll-up windows!!, but it was cheap and now gas fillups are almost a pleasant experience.. |

Smart car FTW! And I know most people wouldn't not feel safe in one but if anyone's watched the Top Gear/Fifth Gear episode where the drive the remote control equipped Smart car into the concrete wall @ 65 miles per hour and the doors still open on the car will agree that they ARE very safe actually. The safety cage on that car is insane.
Besides if you get the Smart car you can trick it out like this: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The problem with the Smart car is that it is sold out for over a year. It'll be 2010 before you get one. That doesn't help me now.

Patience is a virtue...
...just kidding Yeah, my advice is 1. Honda Fit (unmatched reliablilty, great gas mileage, etc) 2. Scion Tc (great package for the $$$, toyota quality) 2. Mazda (I wouldn't pick it even if it was last...which it is...lol)

We have a dealership in the area with a number of Smart Cars on the lot..you could always fly up to northern VA and drive it home (or spend the $15 and say it's your luggage and check it on American Airlines) (or you could get one of these...http://thekneeslider.com/archives/20...ery-smart-car/ )
