First to post, South West region?
Someone has to start a thread in this forum.
I'm in Austin, looking for a week-long trip into the Davis Mountains. Must include a trip to the McDonald Observatory, probably mid-week. Looking for routes, roads, places to stay, things to visit. Hiking is a plus. Scenery a must. Cool roads. Five days total, out and back. Thanks. |

Amen Chaz.
If you need more'n you can fit in Stewie's trunk you ain't goin' for the joy'a the drive. Better off takin' the Deuce-n'-a-Quarter r' the Expedition. (Lessee now . . the black cucumberbum looks good, but I'd better bring the tartan in case the mood gets more festive, but then I'll need the BRG jacket too) Ya godda pack basic, like you're gonna be makin' the trip with only one suitcase . . . n' it happens to be the same size'z Stewie's trunk. It's definitely dooable. 'Easily done. Be well. Safe trip bj. Java |

Use soft-sided stuff like duffel bags. I fit 2 medium softside coolers (with beverages), 2 duffel bags of light clothing + sweatshirts, 2 fishing poles, a small tackle box, a backpack (1/2 full), 6 bottles of wine, 2 beach towels, a "Baby Taylor" travel guitar in a softside case and some other crap for a 3 day weekend up the Pacific coast. It was tight but do-able. (I just said "tight", "but(t)" and "do-able" in the same sentence) I'm glad I didn't get a flat tire.

Not sure what S you have, but my S has plenty of trunk space, if you pack the right stuff. Let me restate, if you have a carry on size roll on, it fits perfectly into the indentation. and you can load at least two duffle bags around that (if you really need that much stuff).
I also saw the comment about a cooler and found that if you get on of the old metal Coleman coolers (got my cooler in Gruene/TX and an Antique store) it fits perfectly into the indentation (a friend actually painted it for my Birthday in car color and I had at every S2K gathering people wanting to buy it from me. Just to add last trip to Corpus I had the cooler a duffle bag and the S2K original cover in the trunk for a long weekend. But guys, lets get back to the roots. All the space you need is on the driver size door the little net compartment is a perfect fit for 1, 2 or 3 credit cards and to answer your question FedEx delivers your stuff back home even on the weekend Have fun driving, Franz |
