New s2000 in Chandler, Az
Hey, I'm just saying what's up, I am 23 and I just got my o4 s2000 last month and slapped on some OZ racing wheels. It's my first nice car and I still can't believe I own it. I had a 3speed automatic Geo Prizm and 4cyl Ford Ranger before my S2k and it's been a pleasent change. I've been browsing the forums for the last couple months and have found very useful info here. I even found the secret compartment!!
I've been staring at my car way too much and need help deciding if I should lower it with 1" Eibach springs. I just think there is too much of a gap in the front wheel wells...I just tend to over analyze things and I don't really think it needs to be lowered, but I've always lowered my cars in the past. I even lowered the Geo Prizm...haha and I currently have the 4d Ranger slammed like 4 inches. Can someone let me know if it's worth the 1" drop? I really like how it handles right now and I don't want to make any dramatic changes but I constantly am angered my the large gaps in the wheel wells. if you plan on tracking the car often I would stay away from lowering it. Unless you want to dump 2K+ into the suspension. If you just want it done for looks, I know ALOT of people with the Eibach springs. Tein's are not bad lowering springs either. Either way, no matter what anyone tells you, with the one inch drop there is no need to change the shocks right away. Plenty of people I know run stock shocks with springs (they even track the cars often). If you do the whole assembly (springs and shocks) I would do the Koni Yellow Shocks and contact Skunk2 directly. You can order springs from them and specify the spring rates that you want.

Welcome and congrats on the new car, I love the hard top! (it's cool to see more guys from Az join, I'm in anthem Az (north phx area)
+1 for what ap1sleeper said, I would just use your stock shocks and get lowering springs. what size rims are those? It sucks for me because I'm on 19's right now and going from that back to ap1 rims theres gonna be a larger gap

Welcome to the site and the car.
If you want to lower it, do it. If you want the car to corner like it does now, don't lower it.

Go'z speakin' pearls a'cha Jay.
I think I found yer problem though, you said it yourself: "I've been starin' at my car way too much". There'z them whut likes'ta park Stewie n' then place a lawn chair at a particularly advantageous position for viewin' the car. That kind'a thing can have you forgettin' whut Stewie'z all about n' have you overly concerned with how it looks. Or ya can spend yer time lookin' additt from the cockpit while you n' Stewie're becomin' one (it'z a zen thing). Some'a the changes that may look like they need fixin' from the lawn chair, will take away from Stewie'z ability to perform as well as it does. I'm not sayin' don't change nothin', but I am sayin' be aware that the changes offered up on the altar'z'a the groovy gods'a looks ain't gonna necessarily make ya happy the next time you go out to carve those chicanes, 'r jus' drive it on the uneven pavement'a normal roads. However ya decide ta go, good luck n' keep us posted. Java
