How to paint rims black?

i've seen a few s2ks with the ap1 rims painted black and i have to say i really like it. i think black rims on these cars looks incredible, especially when complementing the black top. i've looked into getting works, but i really like the style of the stock ap1s. also, i work in south dallas and drive about 60 miles round trip, a lot of which is on less than stellar roads, so i'm not crazy about having to repair rims often.

so, to make a long story longer, does anyone have any recommendations on where i can get my rims painted (professionally! no spray paint jobs) or who i can see in texas?

thanks in advance!

you go to the auto parts store and buy black paint (the kind specifically for rims)

Take off your rims set up on the ground and spray away.. spray at a distance you dont want it to drip, and do a couple of coats! You need 2-3 cans.

THATS WHAT I DID!! and it looks good to !!

NOT TO BAD HUH?

If you really must do this, have them powder coated.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

IF YOU CAN FIND A GREAT POWDER COAT DEAL THAN I SUGGEST THAT! I went this way cus i figured if they didnt turn out right I would just get them powder coated after.. It was worth a shot! and turned out I liked the way they came out...

Did you take the tires off and remount them when finished?
NO; its just black paint, didnt show up on the tires on MY AT ALL!!

Will it chip when mounting tires?

I dont know because I haven't taken the tires off. But shouldn't if they are (or you are) careful, even powder coat will chip off if your not careful.

No chips and the paint holds up well?
No chips yet and the paint is holding up well ( i guess its cus the paint was made for rims.) the advantage of spraying them over powder coating is that if it did chip or scratch then you can fix it easily by spraying again.. but with powder coat a lot of times you have to get it striped the powdered coated again)

Any tips for getting even coverage?
Just spray at a distance. 1 second sprays while going in a down word motion (gets tiring) But you'll figure it out once you get started

Did you use clear coat?
I did not use clear.

I painted my ap2 rims. I did what aladdin20110 did. I bought rim paint, and did them my self. But i taped my tires, just so i wouldnt take a chance of getting paint on them. I cleaned them, then did a couple layers of primer, a couple layers of black, and i did a couple layers of clear coat. Here's a picture!!
