Soon to be new S Owner (San Antonio, TX)
Hey all, some might remember me from the post I made a while back.
My 2000 Integra GS-R was stolen yesterday morning. It was recovered today and it's been stripped of the engine, tranny, battery, radio, and interior. I haven't seen it in person or in pictures yet, but I have a good feeling it'll be totaled. With that said, I now have a chance to get my dream car, the S2000! This is because I had the apartment complex transfer me to a unit with a garage, so the stewie will be safe. =) Anything I should be aware of when inspecting used S2000's? I'm not sure if I should go AP1 or AP2, or does it not matter that much? I'd like to stick in the 2001-2004 range. Currently looking at this 2001 Yellow S2k, but KBB says $14,500. Anyways, glad to meet you all and hope to be part of the family soon. Last edited by RavynX; 06-12-2008 at 07:01 PM. |

Wow man, sorry to hear, but I hope you got your apartment complex to give you the garage for free, or at least at a hefty discount!!!

Wow. You have a story kid. Where do you live? I hope the kids responsible die a slow painful death!!!
I have an AP1, 2002 S2000. Love it. Couple things to check.. 1) Inspect the cloth top a well as how well it goes up and down. 2) Check the dipstick. If the tip has oil stains, (kinda burnt) they didnt change the oil regularly. 3) Inspect the oil level and check for valve noise. 4) Shifting. Make sure all the shifts are smooth and the bearing are not worn. 5) Check the bottom end of the engine for and oil or other fluid leakage. Congrats. Get a Silver S2K, they are the fastest. lol I am sure others will have other suggestions.

Tough break with the Integra, but now you have an opportunity! Hope your insurance company treats you right. Good luck with your search for an "S". Stay away from any car that's been heavily modified, as it's probably also been heavily flogged. Look around for an older car with low miles. They're out there.

sucks about the integra dude. had my civic stolen FROM MY DRIVEWAY WHILE I WAS EATING DINNER. same thing - stripped and found a mile from my house. it was totaled, but the insurance company gave me much more than i could have made selling it or trading it.
the older ones with no mods and low miles are out there. i got my s about a month ago. 2002, no mods, 9,000 miles. and it was a good price too. |

Cool, thanks for the replies all. I've found a Blue Suzuka in Indiana and also Virginia that might be worth having my friends inspect and flying out to get it. Are we allowed to post links to eBay or Craigslist? Some forums allow it, some don't.
Any tips/suggestions from going FWD to RWD? Oh and... Damn that sucks! Gotta say though I'm lovin the 13" donuts all the way around.
Yeah from FWD to RWD can take a while to get used to. Just be smart about it especially in the rain and snow and you'll be fine. G/L with everything.

Only regardin' the AP1 vs. the AP2: they're both outrageous.
Whichever one comes through as the best deal (Read: shape, price), go for it. You will not be disappointed. What better way to get past the grief'uv havin' your car stolen than to treat yourself to Stewie? Tough timez call for tough responsez Rav:Stewify yourself! Java

"Any tips/suggestions from going FWD to RWD?" With RWD, watch for the rear to break out, steer in to slide and lift your foot momentarily. FWD understeers and you use the throttle to pull you forward. Just drive it normally until you get used to the feel.

So I've pretty much sealed the deal with another guy selling his S. He resides in Florida so once my insurance check comes in I'm flying out there next Thursday and driving it back. =) 2002, Suzuka Blue, 15k miles. I can't wait!

Thanks all! I made a post in the New Members thread @ http://s2000.com/forums/new-s2000-co...html#post52169
But I flew out to Florida and drove her back Thursday & Friday. I love her to pieces! =) BTW, I see what you all meant by easy on the gas for RWD. I was pulling out of my apartment complex making a left turn and the back end got just a tad squirrely. I can only imagine how bad it would be in the rain. Glad to be a part of the family now. |

Have fun! Don't worry, it's not bad at all in the rain, you just gotta learn how she handles. It took me about a month to learn how not to oversteer, now I do it when I want to!

Sorry I am totally high jacking your thread but you are in a racquetball court and seem to be pretty serious about it. I played a lot a 100 years ago...well maybe 50, open singles and doubles. I got old (and an ACL replacement) and took up mountain biking. Do you play tournaments? If so what level and is interest in the game coming back?
Sorry again but couldn't pass it up. Kevin |

Hows your Exhaust?? Are you getting used to the sound?
My Fuel Efficiency is horrible, i think the CAI and Exhaust setup is causing the car to run really lean. Time a for a tune to balance it out! |

I'm definitely used to the sound now and I love it. I got 23 mpg driving all day this Sunday for the S2k drive to Salt Lick BBQ and I had the top down and was romping through the twisties but I guess most of it was just highway mileage. I used to get 21 in the city being semi-lightfooted but now I'm getting 18 and lucky to get 19. Maybe we do need a tune now since we have intake & exhaust. *ponders*
