SCCA TX People

Anyone going to this thing next month 3/14 @ Pennington Field?

I am sure most of you are experienced drivers with your S2k's but I'm going with some people and wasnt sure if anyone on the site maybe up there as well.

http://www.autocross.com/texasregion/

Also, any good places near the Fort Worth area to hang at night... since we'll be up there Friday night and leave Sunday 3/13-3/15...

I would if I was in the area. I haven't ever looked forward to the autoX season more than I have this off season.

I might have to go to this... just to hang out and watch. I actually grew up in that area.

I'd suggest Sundance Square in downtown Ft Worth. Or the uptown/McKinney Ave/West Village area north of downtown Dallas. Not sure what you're into... but there's something in both cities for everyone. Ft Worth is closer to Pennington field, but uptown is a lot bigger.

well its me and 3 guys coming from San Antonio, staying at some marriott Solano or something about 15-20 minutes from Pennington, so it really depends on what they want to do, I was just curious cause I love the guys but they cant make up their mind for nothing, if it was up to them they'd stay at the hotel the whole time...

Swingle1 let me know if you go I know they said seats fill up about a week usually before the scheduled AutoX class, but I figured it'd be fun and give me a chance to learn some things properly... maybe... LOL

Marriott Solana in West Lake. That's north of Pennington, not too far from the airport.

There's a "town center" type place over there (can't remember if it's westlake or southlake), which is very nice, if you're not looking to get too rowdy.

I like it, but some might say it's too family friendly. What type of places do you and your friends like?

ok... I'd say southlake town square. Taco Diner or Mi Cocina's. They both have Al Fresco dining so it doesn't seem as crowded (hopefully it'll be warm enough outside). If you haven't had a Mambo Taxi (their signature drink), this is a must.

Southlake Town Center will be packed on Friday and Saturday nights, everyone in Grapevine/Southlake goes out to eat then but it shouldn't be too bad at Mi Cocina. From Westlake take 114 east and get off on Carroll Ave, then take the frontage road to the town center. That puts you in the parking lot on the north side with less traffic to deal with than coming in from Southlake Blvd. There are a bunch of places to eat. (Hit Milwaukee Joe's for ice cream)

The old GF liked to go there so I used be over there alot. The present GF lives in Uptown Dallas so I'm having to adapt.

Uptown? That's a lot of mileage from Ft Worth!

That uptown crowd is a lot more bohemian... but that can be fun too.

I'm coming from Grapevine so it's not quite as bad mileage-wise, and the truck gets more of the mileage than the S since it works better as an urban assault vehicle (hate Dallas traffic). When I do drive the S she is nice enough to park her (new) FJ on the street and the S gets her garage (I think that's got to be in the definition of a great GF!)

I dont feel like making a new thread, curious to know anyone on here sign up for the meet 3/15 @ AT&T center... I dropped the Dallas thing and signed up for this one... cheaper and closer to home. If you are I'd like to ride along with a few. I already know 1 person going I am riding with once or twice, but I'd like to get a feel for more then 1 S2000's perspective on how to drive the car, so I can take all advice and mix it up and make my own...

Also, what class if you are novice did you place yourself under..

Sweet, I am excited, although I dont have any mods yet for the car. I am trying to decide if I want to buy a gun first or add somethings to my car. I did better this weekend at the gun range then I expected and I've been wanting a walther P22 but I handled the H&K 40 so well the guys think I should go 380 or 9 MM.

Car Mods or gun...

hmmmm..... I'm personally modded out for the moment!! I'll be saving up for a semi auto. either an MP5 or if i have money a Steyr Aug.
IMO a stock S is perfect for a daily driver, and most applications your going to run it through!!

Rambo style bang...bang...bang...

below is me actually trying...

DO you know on this weekends autox if max is 60 cars or if you can register when you get there... I have a friend who is co driving because he is trading in his 335i and cant mess up his car. Does it matter whether you wait or not as long as they have your POI on file...

Hopefully you'll meet alot of us!

I'd be there between 7:30 and 8:30 or else late fees!!
You'll also want to walk the course a few times before the novice walkthrough! & inflate your tires! I'll be there around 7 helping setting up cones!!

Here is the schedule
Setup starts at 7:00 AM
Registration opens at 7:30 AM
Late registration begins at 8:30 AM (additional $10)
Registration CLOSES at 9:00 AM
Novice Walkthrough at 9:00 AM
Driver's meeting at 9:30 AM
First Car out at 10:00 AM

Your buddy who is co-driving should at least send his POI Before Sunday!! He should be able to register that morning! If he is co-driving with you then remember to switch numbers before every run!

Were you driving on Prue today?

Looking forward to meeting both of you! (Jessa & JDMzimbo)

You'll also want to walk the course a few times before the novice walkthrough! & inflate your tires! I'll be there around 7 helping setting up cones!!

Here is the schedule
Setup starts at 7:00 AM
Registration opens at 7:30 AM
Late registration begins at 8:30 AM (additional $10)
Registration CLOSES at 9:00 AM
Novice Walkthrough at 9:00 AM
Driver's meeting at 9:30 AM
First Car out at 10:00 AM

Your buddy who is co-driving should at least send his POI Before Sunday!! He should be able to register that morning! If he is co-driving with you then remember to switch numbers before every run!

Were you driving on Prue today?

Looking forward to meeting both of you! (Jessa & JDMzimbo)
I'll be there about 8... so i'll come find you guys because I would like to walk through with people to help me understand where I should brake or how I should take corners... I really dont want to make an A$$ of myself, so the more prepared I am the more confident I will be and as for my friend he already sent in his POI and is not driving my car, he's already had enough fun with it...

also, I havent been out in the car today... I was sick so I slept till like 4 today... LOL, around town when I am driving I've seen ALOT of S's but no one seems to notice I honked or waved but I dont get any love or attn back, so yea...

Thats great! The more you walk the course (at least for me) the more confidence you build, come find us and walk with us!! Also the novice walkthrough helps alot! thats were you'll course strategy and tips!! Last track in feburary I launched out the gate for my first run and missed the first 2 turns!! I figured out those turns really quickly!!

That sucks most of the S's in San Antonio are friendly and wave back!! There are a few "elitists" that don't even acknowledge your presence. If you see a yellow s thats really loud with black rims make sure to wave honk and scream!
