SCCA TX People
Anyone going to this thing next month 3/14 @ Pennington Field?
I am sure most of you are experienced drivers with your S2k's but I'm going with some people and wasnt sure if anyone on the site maybe up there as well. http://www.autocross.com/texasregion/ Also, any good places near the Fort Worth area to hang at night... since we'll be up there Friday night and leave Sunday 3/13-3/15...

I would if I was in the area. I haven't ever looked forward to the autoX season more than I have this off season.

I'd suggest Sundance Square in downtown Ft Worth. Or the uptown/McKinney Ave/West Village area north of downtown Dallas. Not sure what you're into... but there's something in both cities for everyone. Ft Worth is closer to Pennington field, but uptown is a lot bigger. |

well its me and 3 guys coming from San Antonio, staying at some marriott Solano or something about 15-20 minutes from Pennington, so it really depends on what they want to do, I was just curious cause I love the guys but they cant make up their mind for nothing, if it was up to them they'd stay at the hotel the whole time...
Swingle1 let me know if you go I know they said seats fill up about a week usually before the scheduled AutoX class, but I figured it'd be fun and give me a chance to learn some things properly... maybe... LOL

Marriott Solana in West Lake. That's north of Pennington, not too far from the airport.
There's a "town center" type place over there (can't remember if it's westlake or southlake), which is very nice, if you're not looking to get too rowdy. I like it, but some might say it's too family friendly. What type of places do you and your friends like? |

I'm always up for whatever, but the guys are more low key not to large of crowds... So really whatever isnt to rowdy and small in numbers if possible is always good for my anti social peeps... LOL

ok... I'd say southlake town square. Taco Diner or Mi Cocina's. They both have Al Fresco dining so it doesn't seem as crowded (hopefully it'll be warm enough outside). If you haven't had a Mambo Taxi (their signature drink), this is a must.

I'm coming from Grapevine so it's not quite as bad mileage-wise, and the truck gets more of the mileage than the S since it works better as an urban assault vehicle (hate Dallas traffic). When I do drive the S she is nice enough to park her (new) FJ on the street and the S gets her garage (I think that's got to be in the definition of a great GF!) |

well, I appreciate all the info. If anyone is traveling to or wants to go to this thing I have 2 rooms and 1 has an open spot left... $90.00 for 2 nights in a Marriott hotel... if anyone is interested let me know. I also have a post on another forum so first come first serve for the spot.

I dont feel like making a new thread, curious to know anyone on here sign up for the meet 3/15 @ AT&T center... I dropped the Dallas thing and signed up for this one... cheaper and closer to home. If you are I'd like to ride along with a few. I already know 1 person going I am riding with once or twice, but I'd like to get a feel for more then 1 S2000's perspective on how to drive the car, so I can take all advice and mix it up and make my own...
Also, what class if you are novice did you place yourself under..

Sweet, I am excited, although I dont have any mods yet for the car. I am trying to decide if I want to buy a gun first or add somethings to my car. I did better this weekend at the gun range then I expected and I've been wanting a walther P22 but I handled the H&K 40 so well the guys think I should go 380 or 9 MM. Car Mods or gun...

DO you know on this weekends autox if max is 60 cars or if you can register when you get there... I have a friend who is co driving because he is trading in his 335i and cant mess up his car. Does it matter whether you wait or not as long as they have your POI on file...

That sucks most of the S's in San Antonio are friendly and wave back!! There are a few "elitists" that don't even acknowledge your presence. If you see a yellow s thats really loud with black rims make sure to wave honk and scream! |
