Reputable Dealer to Replace Top in Houston
I have a 2000 yr model AP1 and when I purchased it used in '07 the top was definitely exposed to the elements. Has some repaired holes and is just generally getting brittle in some areas and lots of air noise. I've attempted the simple fixes to quiet down the air noise from the holes but now would like to just get a quality replacement top.
A few questions as I look for a replacement: 1. Is there a specific brand top available (other than a hardtop) that would help cut down on road noise made of thicker canvas? This is my daily commuter from The Woodlands to south Houston and while I realize it is a convertible prone to noise it is just plain loud inside and getting worse. With the numerous tiny tears and now holes ... Kinda like a leaking roof in the rain where you are running around the house finding buckets to catch the water. ![]() 2. Would one of the models with the rear glass opposed to plastic be a better option for sound reduction? Are these available for the '00 models? 3. I live in The Woodlands, TX (30 miles north of Houston), who would you recommend to do a top replacement? Thanks! Last edited by El Sid; 07-17-2009 at 05:05 PM. |

Definitely go glass. I don't know about noise reduction, but it never gets all f'd up like the plastic ones do. I've even used plastic polish (Plastix) and it still looks crappy (but not as crappy as it did before).

Seibon is garbage, the fit is awful and the carbon is fake.

If you're looking for a quick fix to patch the holes and keep the rain out, get some of this stuff called Tear-Aid. I've patched some small cuts and holes about 2 years ago and it's still holding strong (even in drive through car washes).
Search the forum for it, that's where I found it. Until then, save your money for a Robbin's or some sort of "Stayfast" canvas top. |

I had a front spoiler. And I tried to get some satisfaction but they refused to do anything. And the car at S2KDays Belterra looked like patch work. Nothing fit well.
Maybe you got lucky. Jonathan
