Look for a picture of a '00 or '01 with their top up.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

I am not sure if you can replace just the plastic window. You may be able to, I am just not sure if it is possible. If not, here is a link to a good company with great customer service that will sell you the entire top:

Gratefully, I haven't had to do anything with the top on my Stewie (mine's an '04 with the glass) but on my daughter's Miata, a local top shop installed a new plastic window with some gizmo that double-row stitched the window in place while the top was still on the car.
Now, while I realize that the Miata ain't Stewie, there shouldn't be alodda difference in the attachment of the plastic window to the top.
One thing though: if the window's bein' replaced because of agin' (read: yellow/browning/opaqueness) the time for the top's replacement probably ain't long off. Do 'em both. Don't waste money on a new window if you're soon gonna be replacin' the whole kit-n'-caboodle anyway.
Be well.

rear plastic window

The hole isn't caused from wear. It looks as though someone tried to get into the car by slicing the back window and they pulled back their slice to make a bigger hole. right now my car is garaged most of the time for the winter so I will wait till the spring to do whatever. My insurance says they will cover it but I have a deductible and I am not sure if the window will be more expensive than the deductible.

Whether r' not it's more expensive, it' one'a those "goddadoo" things. If you're sure the top's gonna last a few years certainly go with the window.
But, things like sliced tops/windows aren't usually all that "impulse". Keep an eye on where it's parked. Top/window slicin' is usually directed at the car's owner. Of course, not always, but it'd be a shame to pay to have it fixed jus'ta have it get done t'ya again.
Be well.

Yeah, i was parked at the mall in Decatur and I just got the car a few months before. I don't have anyone who would want to take anything out on me. The slice happened in Decatur Illinois and it is not the greatest town if you know what I mean but I live in a little rural town outside of decatur so nothing will happen to the car there. don't ever park a nice car in Decatur!!

Check out Robbins Auto Top in Oxnard, CA. Http://www.robbinsautotop.com. My S2000 was their guinea pig and they gave me a new top with a glass back window for free and it is much nicer than the stock top. They can ship the top with instructions to a 3rd party installer and probably save you money as compare to a dealership. The yellow S in their pictures is mine

I went to a shop to get a quote to get my cloth top replaced(00'). they gave me 2 options..cloth or vinyl. they told me that the stock top is vinyl. i guess i always thought it was cloth. anyone replace theirs with a cloth top? he told me it would wear a little better. i think bmw and some others come with a cloth top. they do look a little "richer", i guess. any thoughts...please let me know. thanks.

Go to Robbins Auto Top Company convertible tops. The picture of the spa yellow is mine. You can email them and ask them what kind of top they used on mine. I was the first S they ever worked on.

Try ebay. You can get one with a glass rear window for around $500 - $600.

You use the same frame. Only the fabric part is replaced.
