Looking for rims

I have been looking for rims since i got my car, but i have never found any that not only look good but are light weight. unfortunetly everytime i do find a rim they are like 3000 for just the rims. i was wondering if any one here has any idea of rims that look good and weigh as much, or less than factory ap2 wheels... Please

"Look good" is very subjective. Tirerack has some Koseis(sp) for around $800 that are lighter than stock.

tirerack has OZ ultraleggara's for like 2 grand for the whole deal, 18's that is. the 17's are obviously cheaper! i've been looking too and that seems to be what I'm gonna go for. HRE wheels are a bit much at 6000+ lol

I have been looking as well. Currently running the stock AP1 16's. I am not too crazy about most of aftermarket rims I have seen, tho less weight is always good. I am also changing because some claim the lower profile tires can lessen the snap oversteer.

I was thinking going to 17's, instead of 18's. Mostly because I thought I'd read here about rubbing issues and because I thought the 18's might make the ride more harsh than I would like. I put lower profile rims on a Lotus a few years and rattled tooth fillings loose ever after.

I was thinking I could find a set of AP2 OEM 17's, which aesthetically are as nice as any, IMO. But would 18's effect the snap oversteer enough to warrant the rougher ride? Is the rubbing common with 18's? Seems that might be more related to tire width than rim height.

Enkeis are known for being lighter I was in the same boat, I liked the volks but wasnt paying 700 per rim. I got my enkeis for 1600 with tires. Try this site they got some good info on wheel specs www.wheeldatabase.com

Rims? Are they for your bicycle? If you are looking for WHEELS I suggest Enkei RFP1's they are hella clean on the cheap and maintain OEM or lighter than OEM. If you are on the way cheap check out ROTA slipstreams. Spoon look alikes... only downside is you'll be rollin on the same wheels civics are.

Rota D2's

Hey guys I need some help real quick. Just ordered a set of Rota D2's and its got me worried now after reading different posts. I got 18x8 front offset +48 and 18x9 rear offset +50. Is this going to work and if so which size tires and I do plan on dropping it a bit. Thanks!!

For the front:
205 tires: +43 offset minimum (6.5” to 7.5” wide wheel)
215 tires: +48 offset minimum (7.0” to 8.0” wide wheel)
225 tires: +53 offset minimum (7.0” to 8.0” wide wheel)
235 tires: +58 offset minimum (7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel)
245 tires: +63 offset minimum (7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel)

For the rear:
235 tires: +40 offset minimum (7.5” to 8.5” wide wheel)
245 tires: +45 offset minimum (7.5” to 9.0” wide wheel)
255 tires: +50 offset minimum (8.0” to 9.5” wide wheel)
265 tires: +55 offset minimum (8.5” to 9.5” wide wheel)
275 tires: +60 offset minimum (9.0” to 10.0” wide wheel)
285 tires: +65 offset minimum (9.0” to 10.0” wide wheel)

Try to find a set of JDM BBS wheels. They are the same size as the oem 16" wheels but much lighter. The stock wheels weigh 17.5 and 18.6 lbs. respectively. The JDM BBS weigh 13.3 and 14.3 lbs respectively. And my avatar is a picture of one.

If I put 215's up front and 255's in the rear with a 1" drop from tein will everything work out or will they rub. I heardrolling your fenders is a bad idea!

I don't know if it actually lessens snap oversteer, but you definitely get more feel of the road and less tire roll.

If anything, I would think that it might be more prone to snap oversteer because a larger sidewall will roll a bit first, then let go, whereas the low profile just loses grip and goes. It's kinda similar to the comparison to the softer rear of the AP2 compared to the AP1, except with tires.

I could easily be wrong though.

Ultraleggras

I put some new shoes on the "S" this spring. I bought a set of used rims and them had them powder coated a charcoal "gun metal" Cost $1,000 for the rims and $350 for the powder coat, another $1,650 for the Dunlop tires, Rolled the rear fenders, $80. Bingo! over $3,000 but well worth it.

The rims are 18"x9/os55 and 18x8/os48 OZ Ultraleggras

The tires are Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec 225/40 + 265/35's

The car handles like a dream even though there is the odd rub on a large bump or a small bump encountered on a hard corner.

Here are some pics of the wheels along with a few odds and ends.

If you were running 255's in the rear which you very well could do without a stretch you probably wouldn't rub.. I have 9.5" +55 with a 255 no problems... are you lowered? If you are you may just need to cut your rear fender tab very simple to do.

Dude...seriously, get your tires from the Tire Rack next time and it will cost half as much.

I run the same size (except 255 in rear) and Goodyear F1 GS D3's (a much better tire) are only $226 per tire. Add $20 each for shipping and $20 each for mounting. Go with Sumitomo HTZ III which I have recently and they are $60 apiece cheaper with still excellent dry weather handling. Not so good as the Goodyears in the wet though.

You're probably rubbing on the front fender. Be careful because it will break the fender liner clips and cut the sidewall of the tire. My rears have never rubbed, but I also run the UK spec alignment with 2 degrees of camber in the rear.

Hey, I tried to get my tires through Tire Rack. After shipping, taxes and paying someone to install and balance, inflate with nitrogen, I would have saved a little over $150 bucks. Not worth the hassle so I used my local tire store.
The 265's on the rear perform great and I like the big wheel look besides the rubbing is very minor. The front rubs a little on the fender clip which I relocated the bolt out of the way and cut some of the metal and plastic flange off. I marked it with some bright paint to see where it was rubbing and determined it could not possibly bind with the tire and cause damage. When I say minor rubbing it is just that. It never happens on any major road or highway just on the rugged little country roads (paved of course!)

I do not believe the Good Year F1 GS 3D,s are a better tire from the reviews I have read on them, just different and there are lots of opinions on tire performance it all depends on personal experience.

Overall my personal experience with the Dunnies has been very rewarding so far (9,000 km's) but I will be sure to post any bitches about future problems with them that might come up.
