WTB: broken convertible top latch for parts

The AP1 I recently bought is missing one of the screws that keep the latch release button on the convertible top in place. I went to Honda parts department, but they could not match it on the parts diagram (latch being the smallest unit), and they also could not find anything they had in stock to fit...

So here I am looking for a broken one to pull the screw and washer off

Go to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com they will probably have it in stock or get it in a couple days and you save about 30%

Try another dealer. My local honda dealer can get me every bit and piece part I want. They have a diagram you just show them that part and they'll order it. It takes a while and they charge you like crazy though! Good luck!

I have a service manual with the parts diagram. The latch assy. is shown as one piece. The parts it's made up of are not listed separately (like the button, screws and washers etc). I looked before I went to the dealer

So yeah, unfortunately they were just as helpless...

I just checked the parts book and the part you are looking for comes as part of an assembly. The part, "striker assy # 86270-S2A-902 for my 00-01 and 86270-S2A-J01 for my 02-05. That is if I understand exactly what you need.

Yepp, it does come as part of the assembly called "Convertible top lock handle." I just don't feel like buying the whole assembly for one missing screw

That's why I am hoping someone might have a broken one that they swapped out I could use as a screw donor

I found a local vendor that specializes in fasteners and they could match the missing screw for the latch. It was not an exact match, was about 1mm longer than the original, but it fit.

The company I went to is called Wilder's Inc. and they seem to be local to Raleigh, NC. You might just research local vendors that specialize in fasteners -- they would be able to match most screws. It took the guy at Wilder's all of 3 minutes to measure, match and locate two alternatives. One was zinc and other was black, like the original, but about a millimeter longer. It fit, so I got that one.
