I need a boot cover; or do I?

Bought a '02 a couple wks ago. It came with no boot cover for the top.
Anyone have one in decent shape and like to sell for a low price?
Honda Parts wants $832! Does anybody even use it or is it a hassle?

boot is waste of $. I only got mine because it was Free with a Certified Car. They are useless, unless you are only going to be gone for a day, and are going to keep the top down all day. Can't bring it outta town, because it zaps trunk space.....plus its a PAIN IN THE ASS to put on.

We hate the boot cover

+ imagine you go to a restaurant when the boot cover on and before you park the car you will close the top

you have to get out the car, take the boot cover off, put it in the trunk

and girls will be watching you
for them you will look like a car junkie or a valet

thats awfull

LOL, agree -
Wonder if they'll build that into the "new '07 ?"? Similar to the Lexus SC's top trunk storage. But still keep it quick like the current 6 secs? hmmm

I have off my old S2k for sale. I'm asking $500 it is in perfect condition, the car only had 13k miles on it and the cover wasn't used very much. I have included a picture. Please email or PM with any questions.

When I was working as a service advisor at a Honda dealer, I had to warranty one because the owner said his blew off when driving down the road. Warranty cost was about $600.00. Retail is usually about 20% higher. Ours, was even more than that. Not cheap. I'll give you another one.....Had my driver seat covers replaced because the leather was cracking. Parts only...no labor......over $1400.00.

you can get a new boot off ebay for 50-100 all day long. I bought mine 6 months ago and it didnt come with the boot either but it seems like a hassle so im not gettin it. But if you dont keep the top clean like all the brackets and such it will squeek and make noise eventually tearing up so dirt will collect badly with no cover so youll have to armorall it all the time

Congrats on the purchase. What color did you get? How do you like it so far. The boot is a real pain in the ass. The only people I see use it are at shows, other than that rarely do you see them on the cars.

My used '04 didn't come with a boot, but, livin' in an area known for trees (before I had it for 3 weeks hadda branch come down n' put a ding in my once-sweetly-curved haunch) I think the use of a boot might keep me from takin' an acorn n' leaf shower every time I put the top up in the fall. The possibility of havin' to clean out bird crap (hasn't happened in a year n' a half though) outa the inside of the top might be another plus.
But, most importantly. when you can put a top between the rain n' you in less than 6 seconds (thanks again Matt) why would you wanna negate that advantage?
Be well.

You can get one on eBay for under $100. One sold last week for $53 shipped.

I use mine all of the time. It is VERY rare to see my car without it on. It is not that difficult to use. I can get mine on or off in under 1 1/2 minutes.

Invert it to put it on!

I use the cover for two reasons: 1) the car looks great with it on. 2) it provides some protection for the top. As for putting it on, I thought it was impossible UNTIL I tried this! First, the pins behind the seats seemed impossible to get to. There just didn't seem to be enough reaching room to get my hand in there to attach the snaps (I have to take off my wedding ring to get my hand in there). But, I figured there had to be a better way. So, what I do is invert the cover...turn it inside-out! The forward edge slips down toward the pins much easier, and there is more maneuvering room for your hands to work the snaps. Once the middle snaps are secured, I flip the cover back to normal and attach the side straps. Works for me. Of course, I don't do this every time I put the top up/down. If it's nice out, I just leave the top down with the cover on. If it's changeable weather, leave the cover at home so you can put the top up if needed. Whew...long, but I hope it helps. Anyone else try the inversion method for installation?

I like the fast top up and down aspect of the S, and since I never park the car with the top down... never used the cover.

Java, are you keeping the car for weeks on end with the top down? Doesn't the manual recommend to put the top up when you're not driving it. Maybe to keep that vinyl stretched and have some ventilation around it.

That sounds interesting though, I'm going to give that inversion method a try. The only time I think I'd use it was if I was going for just a drive, no stops.

Nah. I couldn't go to sleep thinkin' that it might rain into my car while I slept. If the weather's clear I'll leave it down (but I'm as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room fulla rockin' chairs) but most of the time when I'm not in the car the top is up.
On a couple'a summer nights left it down overnight. I get wild n' crazy like that sometimes. (Truth be told, the ol' fart jus' fell asleep those nights. Jus' lucky it didn't rain)
Be well.

Inversion method...

Don't waste too much time on the inversion method. The more I play with getting the cover on, the easier it gets, so the whole inversion thing may or may not be easier. If you find that it help, so be it!

Ahhh...another weekend cometh and the beast will be unleashed from the dark recesses of my garage....IF the ash from the fire stops falling! Yep, I'm about 25 miles as the crow flies from the fire in SOCAL, and downwind. Twill be fine, no worries.

They routinely sell for less than $100 on ebay. Often around $50. Totally useless at any price.

I have a 2006 boot cover used only twice

I don't know if a 2006 will fit but I would be willing to sell it for $100. I traded my s2k for a 2007 Accord (stupid), I tried to undo my trade the next day but the Honda dealorship wouldn't let me and I mistakenly didn't take my boot out of my closet and put it in the trunk. I live in an area that has alot of show cars and would use the boot when wanting to dress it up nice.

I have a boot cover for an '01 that I've never used and still in the plastic, but the plastic is opened. I'm open to any offers.

I have one in perfect condition off the '05 I used to own. The boot cover does have a use besides cosmetic. It helps to keep dust and debris out of the inside of the top and the works when the top is down.
I'll sell mine for $99 + shipping.
