Don't Upgrade This Forum

...like they are attempting to do at S2KI. That is a good example of how NOT to do a major revision. It appears poor planning and execution have created a monster for the last week. I hope they eventually get things sorted out. But I haven't seen anything yet to inspire confidence. We shall see...

Yeah, this site is tighter than S2KI it seems. S2KI is taking FOREVER to load for me. When it does load, it's kind of confusing. The "upgrade" doesn't seem to be working. I like the layout much better here.

I hate wet tee-shirt night! Last time you won JJ!!

I signed up for s2ki but it is just too damn "busy". I know there is a lot of good stuff on there, but I like it here. Hopefully whoever is in charge here keeps it simple.

S2KI has a great classified section but that is about all I use it for. That upgrade looks to be a nightmare and I'm not sure I like the new layout. It may grow on me. We'll see.

Agree with that. I'm usually there or in the DelVal section. More locals there than here.

S2KI fixed something that was not broke.

My time on that site will be less than before.

it took me a while to get used to the format of s2ki, but it had really grown on me...this new revision is completely worthless though imo

I have NEVER complained about a site upgrade and tolerated others as they whined and complained about them, however, that one is atrocious. I can't even look at it. ALL of the things that I liked about S2KI are gone and navigating it now is horrible. Yes, I know they are still working on it, but there was nothing wrong with it before.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

From what I understand, they are using that simple format until they get something to work out, then it will be closer to what the old one was. They turned the PMs off because they were getting the old ones (that at first weren't transferred over) transferred over. From what I understand all of the bad stuff is temporary, but I agree, as of right now it is definitely worse and much more aggravating.

Now they are locking threads that are critical, and deleting and hiding posts that criticize the site. They started on this process 10 days ago, and it still has many non-functioning features, and is slower than my old Miata. Someone named cthree over there has basically told me to leave and never come back because I had the audacity to post my thoughts. Without expletives I might add...

I think I'll go for a drive instead lol.

I rather wish they hadn't upgraded S2KI now too, but not for the reasons listed above. Anybody who is a regular here can probably figure out what I'm implying so I'll leave it at that.

Totally agree.

I lurked around S2KI for a bit at first but I've been a member of S2KI since January, 2001. I am not likely to renew my membership because I don't like having to pay for the right to live under dictatorship that has no customer focus.

Seriously? You might be joking and, if so, . Just in case you were serious, I'll explain. It could just be a coincidence (not good to assume a cause and effect relationship with no proof), but I noticed a large increase in posts from folks who aren't searching forums before posting questions that have been answered before and to great length multiple times, a significant increase in what appear to be trolling posts, and just a larger than usual increase of new members joining the forum. The last item is not necessarily a bad thing, just something I noticed. Again, I may be drawing a correlation that doesn't exist, but it does seem like a plausible cause. We have noticed an increase in traffic at s2000.com before when other s2000 sites are down.

I hope you are not implying that irregular or modest contributors are not welcome over here. I opened my account about a year and a half ago. I own an S2000. I do not post very much, but do log on almost every day for information. S2000.com IS a public forum, and even lurkers ought to be welcomed. Without them, what would the regulars complain about ?

No, I'm not implying that at all. And I didn't even *say* that when I spelled out what I meant. I don't have much patience for trolls, and frankly, there has been a huge increase of those since the s2ki forum went through their little change of life. I also am somewhat impatient when folks find it easier to just post a question without even trying to look it up first. I think I was pretty clear.

You seem to be of at least moderate intelligence and probably unlikely to troll or not use searches or even just read a few posts in a section of a forum looking for an answer before posting a question. Consequently, I am sure you can understand my point of view, just as I understand yours.

I'd like one of those nifty front lip spoiler thingees and a rear trunk lid spoiler. And maybe some S2000 kitchen potholder/hot mitt thingees. Can I pick the color, Jagg? Where shall we register?
