Any Utah S2000 owners around?

Just wondering if we have any other Utah locals on here... seems the only people I see driving S's are 50-60 year old men/women who don't actually 'drive' the car. It's heartbreaking, really - all this fancy pants technical engineering under wonderfull bodywork going to waste...

no VTEC, no twisty roads....

Well aren't YOU out to make friends and influence people. I'm 53 and I drive hard quite often. Been doing it since before your mommy and daddy met.
Straighten your baseball hat out, you look silly.

I'm 10 years older than you and I've driven motorcycles, go-karts, A Sedans, drag cars and one or two (or 30 or 40) sports cars. I don't think age has anything to do with either driving or not driving to take advantage of all the technology that Honda puts into these cars...(you can ask anyone in the east about drives I've put together and the number of curves and high speed straight stretches that they include). You can be old at 20 and young at 80 (Batguano is in his 70s and he's a regular at Wake The Dragon...)

Maybe some of us older folks have the wisdom to drive a little more conservatively in traffic and residential areas. I think anyone who owns an S2000 bought it because of it's capabilities, otherwise they would probably be driving a Miata.

Actually I HAD a Miata and didn't like it because it didn't perform like a true sports car.

Here's what I've learned. When you're young, you don't know, so you push your limits. Once you know you're limits, you push only when you have to.

That's when the old guys show the youngsters how its done, because not only have they been there, they have the one thing we don't have. Patience. I'm in my 30s so I'm in the middle

ahh... pardon me for not being more clear. If you do not fall under the category of 50-60 who doesn't drive the car hard ever then you have nothing to feel 'offended about'.

I'm not sure what you think my age is, but being 53 really isn't 'that' old; my post was complaining about people your age and older who do not drive the car. It just seems like a waste of such amazing engineering. Nor am I referring to not driving like a stupid young punk either. I've never had a single ticket in my life, and most definitely will never get one for speeding. If I want to go nuts, we do have some tracks out here (Miller Raceway, RMR, etc) or even the dreaded salt flats out west a bit. Who's up for testing Stewwie's top speed at some 4200 feet altitude?

The people who frustrate me are the ones who on a sunny warm day drive around the more 'exciting' routes around going 10mph below the speed limit. One lady comes to mind who I ran into last summer. We were on Van Winkle Expressway (if you know where that is). Perfect gorgeous sunny day, and I get blockaded in by 3 cars - a Pontiac passenger car on my left, silver AP2 in front, and misc passenger car on my right. All 3 were doing no more than 40mph on a road that has a posted speed limit of 50/60.

In contrast, I have seen an older Japanese-looking man in Sandy with either a white or black AP1, he drives like a crazed monster on the twisties, it's great! In fact I recall seeing him on one of my Big Cottonwood Canyon runs as well. If only I could be a crazy old Japanese guy when I'm his age

I am gauging these folks age because I remember all my life ago when my grandparents were around 60 and these men and women look around that same age group. Can't use my parents because Dad looks 15 years older than he is, and mom looks 10 years younger than she is.

Though truthfully I could have even put my dad into that 'annoying' bracket (didn't because he does not own an S2000). He used to do lots of motorcycle racing, and some stoplight racing in the early 70's, but so long as I've been around he doesn't appreciate anything that goes fast or turns well.

Anyways, again I apologize for anyone who felt offended that I'm not a fan of turning S2000's into grocery-getters or Sunday-drivers... it's just always seemed that if you bought an S2000, you did so because you enjoyed it's pep and awe-inspiring handling, so seeing people who can't even maintain the posted speed limits and have to come to a full stop mid turn makes baby koalas cry.

Well, I turned 75 in July and while it is a little hard to get in my S200 from my walker, I do get it up to 40 sometimes. I have to hold it down though, because my teeth tend to bounce out.

If you ever make it out this way, I do have a few favorite roads to show you. I do tend to nod off every once and awhile though.

Actually I enjoy the twisties and also like to ride up the coast highway at near legal speeds, because with the black and whites paying more attention there and people going to the beach it just makes sense. And the car is enjoyable under all circumstances, including traffic.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Where in Idaho is Kuna? I was just up in St. Anthony's enjoying the sand. Biggest bowls I have ever had the pleasure to blast. Can't wait 'till next year.

oh my goodness...that was hilarious!!

The sad thing is that my old man is only 50...umm.. maybe 51 something like that; looks mid-60's and he was barely able to climb back out of my Stewwie (he's not fat, just feeble... 6'1" 175lbs).

He should try Ti Chi before he can't get around any more. My wife takes it and she has no movement issues. I'll know i'm old when I can't get in and out of stewie. I've seen young guys complain, but I have no trouble.

The owner of the car didn't want to sell it to me. He was retiring and a lot younger than I. After driving along a winding road he changed his mind.

Thanks - i will suggest that to him. It's pretty funny to see this frail 6'1" 175lb guy next to his 6'4" 225lb kid. Worst part is he remarried about 10 years ago to a woman 14 years his junior and they now have 4 children. 3 boys ages 7, 5, and 3 as well as a newborn girl.

I saw a silver AP1 (I think) on State and roughly 5800 S on Saturday night. It had dark wheels and a nice big intercooler. Who is this? I want a ride in the car some time...
