Bad idea to park outside in San Diego?

would it be a bad idea to park a S2000 outside in san diego? would there be a high chance of seat theft or such? i'm planning buy one but when i do, i won't be able to park it in the garage. i would get a hardtop asap but is that prone to theft too?

Hardtop is deff not as prone to theft as seats with a soft top.. Your best bet is to buy seat locks at this way they cant get your seats even if they do rip into your top... Now im not sure about your area just ask your self is there a lot of crime, and or people living in that area that would do such a thing

Contact the San Diego Community Relations officer and ascertain the car burglary stats for your particular area of the city. Other than that invest in a good car alarm system.

Regarding seat locks - do they give you a window sticker saying something like "seats protected by xxxxx seat locks"? I know that really won't stop anyone, but it might deter some a-hole from cutting your top, finding out you have seat locks and then thrashing the inside of your S cuz he's pissed off.

A few months ago a Suzuka blue S2000 in San Diego had its hardtop stolen so, to answer your question. YES S2000 hardtops are stolen unless you lock them down as I and many other owners have done. Something else you need to consider, now that it is official that S2000 production ends this summer the theft rates are going to increase for the next few years. The best protection is listed below:

Silent page alarm system, Sig Sauer P-229 .40 caliber, Valkyrie System (available late 2009)
