New Tires

I'm ready for new tires, too.

How does this work? If you buy tires from http://www.tirerack.com/ , do you have them shipped to your house and then take them somewhere for mount and balance? If so, where? Will a tire shop do it, even if you do not buy the tires through them? . . . I see tirerack.com has some recommended installers on their site.

Need your help here, chaz.

Who do you recommend for 1) mount & balance and 2) wheel alignment?

For mounting, I just go to the closest place to my house.

West End Alignment

18008 S Vermont Ave
Gardena, CA 90248
(310) 808-9233‎

This guy does most of the alignments for the track S2000's and Miata's in SoCal. He sometimes has up to a 2 week waiting list.

That's all you do either have them shipped to your house or the tire store, on average it's about $15-$20 per tire for mount and balance. As far as an alignment satisaii knows one of the best alignment guy around. If your in my area the guy I use is good too, about $150 to do it.

Nice find Phil! Your right not to much room for error, I almost lost it down on that really sharp turn on Decker down by PCH when I first got my S2K.

^^^

I'm getting the star specs. Then, I'm having my alignment guy dial in some nice things for me.

All this fun for just shy of 800 bucks. What a deal!

Lucky you didn't hit a bike, motorized or peddle. There's a bump there that breaks the rear loose. It takes a twitch of the wheel to correct. You probably over corrected.

Stunt Rd. is about 12 minutes from my house. I run up there when I feel the need to relax. That's why I drive like an old man.

I have only seen cops there once. They were talking to a couple of motor cycle riders as I came roaring up to the stop sign. They barley took notice.

Yeah, pal. Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs. They were delivered from Nevada in one day. And the alignment guy sounds like he knows what he's doing.

I love it when a plan comes together.

That's not a bad idea. Maybe some of this crap drizzle and marine layer will be burned off by then.

No, this is the last drive we are ever going to take. At the end of the day, we're going to drive the cars off end of the Santa Monica Pier and take the bus home.

Too bad you had to miss it.

Yeah, it turned out to be a good day.

I've now got 175 miles on the Star Specs. So far, I've been able to make them squeal, but I haven't been able to make them slip, so I guess they'll do.

Who's that in the video? Eric?
