Beware the Flim-Flam Man

Short n' sweet guys. (yeah, I know. I'll believe it when I see it)
'Jus' put my winter rubber/rims on the car n' was reminded that I got hustled by a smooth talkin' salesman (I should'a stuck with TireRack) into puttin' +45s on my Stewie n' we all know that it calls for +65s.
Ain't alodda wheels out there that're even near the correct offset.
My allowin' my better judgement to be over-ridden results in my fender wells chewin' rubber whenever the road turns a little rough n' I'm doin' my usual hard cornerin'.
I know alodda folks feel that Stewie needs new wheels, but if you actually drive the thing hard, you might wanna second-think pickin' up wheels that aren't the correct offset.
To the best of my knowledge only mother Honda has wheels of that offset n' they, unfortunately, go for $600 a pop. @*#&!!! It's almost cheaper to buy a second Stewie.
Holdin' back to keep from doin' damage ain't no fun at all.
Be well.

The rears r' gettin' chewed up once in a while. But, damn! I sure look "agressive" while it's goin' on.
Actually, ain't lookin' for "sexy". I jus' want somethin' that'll go roun' n' give me what the stock wheels give me. Although, I've driven aroun' for quite a while with those crab road-kill wheels that they put on the '04 n' later, so I guess I could put up with any kind'a looks 's'long's it works.
But if I had my 'druthers . . ain't no wheel that says it all like the ol' anthracite Cragar mags. I see that they're also called "Bullitt"s now. Put that wheel on a car, most any car, n' it professes to all the world, in big, bold, block letters "OPEN FOR @*#&in' BUSINESS!"
Be well, n' like the ol' knight said . . .

temporary solution!

Java,

There is one place in the rear fender that can be responsible for chewing off of your tire before the rest of the fender would, and you can actually reduce the damage by cutting this part off with a dremel tool. Look inside the fender where the rear bumper meet the car; you can actually see the skid mark that left by the rubed tire against the plastic part which belong to the bumper and it should be in a triangular shape. So the solution is to cut a larger triangular peice, larger then the left skid mark out of that plastic bumper and leave the srew that held the bumper to the car. After done that for the first time you would want to test drive the car to see if the problem persist, if it is then you have to see to the location of the new skid mark and repeat the cutting process. You may have to repeat this step several times to create enough clearance for the tire or reduce the effected surface. It is kinda weird that the rear tire doesn't bounce upward directly into the fender on top but instead toward the back of the vehicle! Cutting something off of the stewie is nerve wrecking so be careful, and practice make perfect!
Oh, and if the skidmark is on the metal surface of the vehicle then you have to bring out the louiseville slugger
Hope this helps!

Thanks karn, but it's only travel is straight up n' into the upper fender lip. Y'know, if the wider, more "aggressive" stance actually did anything (well, besides makin' Stewie look like some dweeb with big ears) I'd actually think about havin' the fender wells "stretched".
But all it does is remind me of what a lodda kids used'ta do to their old Novas.
Be well n' thanks for the input.

'Cause ol' relics look out for one another.
Let an original Shelby slip through my fingers some years back. Always regretted that.
Be well.
