what do you think of the yoko es100?

so i just got my 02 a couple days ago and to tell you the truth i am not impressed with these tires at all. i live in washington and its been wet out all week. There even been some decent dry roads to drive in, but i still loose traction when i punch the gas. are this tires rated well? because i have had some falkens in the past and there is no competition between the two. (but then ago its a step up from my last two seater )

I have had the AVS ES100's on my car for the past 20000 miles. They were good when they were new, but after the first couple thousand miles they started to get slick. The rears only last about 8000 miles, the fronts were still good when I took then off at 20000 miles. I don't like them because they didn't have the grip throughout the tire life (that and they wear out too fast).

Heavy construction and don't last as long. Sumitomo has a better thread wear and performance in the rain, and cheaper. This is the only yoko that I don't like.

I have never heard anything good about the Yokos. I have the Goodyear F1 GS D3 and I think they are incredible, better than anything I have had. But my car did not come with Bridgestone S02's all around. The previous owner had put crappy Toyos on the rear without changing the fronts and the rear end was all over the place. I have the Goodyears on 18" rims and they kick ass.

For what it's worth ger, I've got the Yokos on a suspension-worked Cruiser n' they're a vast improvement over the original rubber, but what I've read about folks that've had 'em on Stewie ain't been flatterin'.
I hate to keep comin' back to it, but did you check 'em out on TireRacks comparisons or any of the magazine testings? No. I don't get kickbacks, it's jus' that I can't think of a broader, more informed way of gatherin' the kind'a info tha'cha need when you're gonna spend chunks'a money on somethin' that could be a matter of life-n'-death, y'know?
Be well.

The Tire Rack is LOADED with information. I highly recommend them. I haven't bought a set from anywhere else since about 1998.

Yokohama's are probably the second best sub-$100 tire available in our sizes. They offer decent traction, relatively decent tread life, and at a pretty good price.

The only other tire I would recommend in the same price range is the Hankook Ventus R-S2. Make sure it's the R-S2's though. The H-R2 is garbage. I've been running R-S2's for about 8 months now and love them. In fact, they are better than most tires in the $125-175 range. They are now what Falken Azenis were 3-4 years ago...a sticky, affordable autocross AND daily driven tire.
