Question ap1 tire thought....Hmmmm?

Hi all.
Been reading a bunch of the tire size stuff for the ap1 regarding the "correct" replacement size for the rear tire. As I've read, the rear should be replaced with a 245/45-16 if other than factory S02 is used... but front 205 is a-ok for a replacement. Sooooo... what about all the folks updating their ap1's to ap2 wheels/tires.... Are they technically incorrect to keep the ap2 front tire width (unless using a wider front sway bar) ? Should they not downsize to a front205 width for their 17 inch wheel?

thanks

Aaay Roadent ('figured I'd make use'a my creative license a bit)
Regardin' the tire size for the front of your AP1: (n' remember, all "this-is-my-personal-opinion" disclaimers r' in place for this)
As twitchy as Stewie has the habit'a bein' . . (pretty dominant oversteer when the attitude changes in a severe corner) however you decide to go with the rear tires, I think it would be prudent to underplay the front tire patch accordingly.
'Thing of it is, with Stewie's stock ability to have the tail racin' the nose to the outside of a hurried corner, playin' down the front patch'll give you a little breathin' room.
'Jus' a thought.
Be well n' keep us posted with how you go n' your satisfaction with the results.

thanks Java.
It was purely for information gathering at this point, as my wife is standing near the checkbook with a frying pan in her hand at this moment... However, I have read conflicting info regarding upgrading the front size when the back tires are replaced with 245s. The original post that I read indicated that the 205 front replacement should remain a 205... A more recent post indicated that a 225 should be used when a 245 is swapped onto the rear
(My "new" 2000 just had the rear tires replaced by the prior owner with 225 Toyo Proxies)

Thanks for your input.

That's what I would do if you are going to 17's. If you are staying with the 16's, the 205 will be fine. The OEM SO2's are actually 245 wide, they just say 225 on the side. When you order the OEM tires, you need to be SPECIFIC to order the correct SO2's. If you go through Tirerack, ask for Jim, he knows his stuff and our car.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Yeah, Go's right. You can't go wrong with the 'Rack.
Tires've gained a whole bunch more variables that've godda be taken into account. That, n' the frequency with which new (n' sometimes even better) stuff arrives on the scene make takin' your questions to the pros at the 'Rack
a prudent choice.
There's jus' too much ridin' on the ability of our tires to perform to chance makin' bad choices.
N', if one of us hubby-types could somehow discover an unguarded copy of the issued-at-marriage book "A Wife's Guide", the chapter "Proper Application of the Fryin' Pan" would probably be 99% of the book.
Be well.

thanks all for the inputs.
java... I hear you about the fryin' pan!... but I say it in all in jest. My wife has been quite understanding of my auto-fascination over many years.

Just wanted to get some input on the tire sizing from those-in-the-know. I still have much to learn about this new toy I've acquired, but I must say that I am totally impressed thus far. It is indeed a fine roadster by any measure

take care all.
