Brake pads

Hi all, new guy here. Just got a new S2000 yesterday. I love it, I love it, I love it. HOWEVER, I've cleaned the wheels 3 times in 400 miles!!! Does anyone have a recommendation for a different set of brake pads that don't make as much dust???

Are you on the OEM pads? The OEM's usually don't make that much dust.

Dunno Don, but, unless there's some new kid on the block that I don't know about, when you've got brake material that's good at what it's supposed to be good at, when you put the binders to good use, you get tell-tale brake dust. Fact'a life.
Maybe brake materials color-coded to the wheels so the residue isn't obvious. (Sorry. That slipped out.)

3 times over 400 miles doesn't seem to be overly excessive to me for cleaning. But then again, I go to racetracks and have gone through 50% pad life in 3 sessions, even glazed a set of OEM's on a mountain drive.

I actually had to clean mines everyday especially with white wheels. The OEM pads work perfect but, the dust it generates is horrible. If a little more pedal effort doesn't bother you, go order some ceramic pads and put them in ASAP since your car is still new that would be ideal. I've ordered a cheaper set of Posi-Quiets from Rockauto for a little over $40 and couldn't be happier. Good luck

Couple qestions on ceramic pads: Do they wear out? Can the stock rotors handle them for a prolonged time and with aggressive driving?

From what I've read, the ceramic pads do wear a lot slower than the softer OEM pads. With that said, the ceramic pads also would eat up the stock rotors more quickly due to its harder material. But, if peak performance is not the main concern, the benefits out weight the cons. I've always noticed a lot of dust along the whole back fender and door so I assume I'm also breathing in some of that which can't be good.

I had ceramic pads on my mr2, and switched to carbon metalic pads due to a recommendation on an mr2 forum. It felt like I had better brake feel. Can't say I saw more or less brake dust. Then again I was living in Washington at the time and it rained the majority of the time I was out there, needless to say cleaning my wheels every day wasn't one of my priorities.

Cleaning isn't one of my priorities either. I went through a set of hybrid pads in 6 months, but my brakes were so much better than stock. I'd rather feel safe.

I like Stillen rotors with Mtech Extreme pads. They bite like Hawk Blue but do not hurt the rotors. A little dust.
