Cusco Roll Bar

I was thinking about buying the 4 point Cusco roll bar. I was wondering if the rigidity helps out alot when cornering compared to no roll bar. I also want to know if it'll bolt right onto the chassis or will I have to make the holes myself. Also, I've read that I shouldn't have problems with the soft top while using it. Is this correct?

Thanks for any help.

I looked into this more and found answers to my questions since I asked. You have to drill into the chassis to make holes and yes, the soft top will still work perfectly.

As for rigidity, I haven't really hear much.

From the pics that i have seen you have to move your seat forward 3 and a half inchs. Me being 5 10" i wouldnt have enough room to drive much less get in. if your around 5'5 i think you could do it.

I also had wondered about that. I am 6 feet and it looked like I would not fit.

I think one means of measuring your fitment would be, if you can enter and exit the Lous Elise, the bar is OK for you.

I got into one at last years Dragonball Run. It took two guys to get me out.

If you want it for looks and *possibly* to increase handling, then go ahead.

They're pretty much just for looks. I haven't seen any scientific proof that they do/don't help handling. They simply bolt on and so couldn't possibly give much safety or stiffness. The bars look thin and scrawny.

I personally thing a hardtop would be a better way to spend the money. I can't find the links I was looking for talking about how useless the bar is (other than aesthetics), so here's one I DID find, although the source is definitely not always reliable:

I'm also aware some sanctioned racing events won't allow them when 4 point rollcages are required, because of the curved sections.

you only have to move your seat forward if you do the Harness bar. FYI, if you are only wanting a more rigid frame and are not tracking the car, there is no need for the harness bar unless you just want looks...
