Tire life
I mostly lurk on this and other forums. In my lurking I have found many to state that their tires only last about 15,000 to 20,000 miles. I have a 2004 with 33,000 on the original tires and I still have about another 5000 to 7000 left on them. Has anyone else gotten this kind of life out of their tires? I have only put 4,000 on them; bought the S from a 58 year old lady who put the first 29,000.

I only would get about 14,000 miles MAX from the rear SO2's and about 25,000 on the fronts. I never do any burnouts. Go figure.

Even at the hands'uv'a 58 year old lady, I'd be very surprised it those tires were the originals T.

Maybe so but I emailed her yesterday and she told me that she never changed the tires. They are Bridgestones RE-050s. |

'Wouldn't be the first time I've been surprised (n' wrong) T.
So, it's becomin' obvious that she spun the odometer ahead to make a better sale. But, no kiddin' . . at 33 with meat still on'em? I think you probably hold the site gold fer that category. Be well, Java

I had the same question myself. I've only gone through 2 mm in 1 year and 11,000 miles. At this rate, I figure that I should get between 30 and 40k on the factory set. I do a few spirited drives a week but I never make the tires squeel. I redline her everyday but I do mostly highway driving and the twisties that I have access to are long sweepers so I don't really have a reason to step out the rear other than for fun. The salesman at the dealer said he went through his first set of rears in 10k and the fronts in 15k. He said that he would be suprised if I did any better...

How did you rotate them other than in parallel to the rotors? You would have to dismount and remount both fronts and rears to rotate them and then you could only do side to side. Fronts are a different size than rears, front wheels are smaller than rears, front center hole is smaller than center hole in rear wheels...

I am living proof. Why you ask simple I am at 54,000 miles with OEM fronts and I just replaced the rears at 52,000 Miles.

Oops, I meant squeal....I guess I just don't drive as hard as the rest of you guys. I have 4 other cars: 1965 Porsche 1965 365s, 1969 Chevelle SS, 2005 Mercedes E55 AMG, and a 2005 Acura TSX and the only car that I have had to replace the tires with less than 20K on them was the E55 AMG and that was because I couldn't stop lighting them up. I am 32 but I guess that I drive more like I'm 62...

I think that the squeal'a Stewie'z ta'rz preceedz the retunin'a the view through the windshield (loss'a traction) by nano-secondz beeb.
I think that we don't spend a whole lodda time screamin' (anythin' to avoid the squeal mentality) is 'cause we're jus' this side'a losin' it. Enter scream territory n' end up in'a dust cloud in'a weedz . . if'n yer lucky. Oh, n' when the (at-the-time) kid wuz on Johnny Carson, he was just a actor kid playin' a part. 'Side'z which, he weren't the one doin' the hein'-n'-hein' back 'long'a river. Java

Which remindz me: got my summer 'Stonez mounted.
Traction is back . . . n' itt'z pissed! Beeb, there may've been a little squeal with the winter Dunlops when the traction got good, but the summer 'Stonez're quiet n' businesslike. It ain't jus' you pal. Java

OK guys. I've had the car since June 2007, in August I got a new set of tires for rear, Potenza RE050A, and went thru them in 2 months!!! Bald, Bald, Bald!! The dealer replaced them with Potenza G009. I drove 2 months and put it in storage. I just went there yesterday to talk about having the fronts replaced and they told me that my "new" tires are "feathering" and about half used already. We set up appointment for an alignment. Are they just bad tires or just wrong tires? Any idea?

tires
No I don't... I drive 40 miles per day to work, and about 1/2 of the way is a 45 miles per hour zone. Always a cop there too. Since the alignment yesterday, it FEELS better. The right rear was badly out of alignment, but the left rear wasn't too bad. They want me to drive about 2,000 and come back for another look. They want to see if there is any other mechanical reason for the tire wear. The struts and shocks and suspension system is in A-ok shape according to the Honda people. Can you think of anything else?

I can only think of hard driving, bad alignment or soft rubber mixture as possible reasons for fast wear. Or a combination of those.

I am on my 4th set of rears to 1 set of fronts. I have 40k miles on my fronts and still plenty left. I run an aggressive set up on the rears and I found out I was running a little bit too much toe-in which makes them wear faster. I am on Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.
