Lowering springs

I found some skunk2 lowering springs for around 200 bux that lower the car about 2 inches. Is that pretty low for the S? I want to keep or imoprove the great handling, would the springs make it better or worse?
Thanks

Yeah that's as low as they make springs for our car. I'm getting the same one's.

Could be a little bit more rough but should handle better.

Too low IMHO. I'm running Espelir ASD w/Koni Yellows and the Espelirs dump the car pretty low, but not that low. As it is, w/negative camber, I scrape on about every driveway I encounter and the front tires rub on the occasional dip in the road. I imagine your handling will suffer too. The car probably handles the best on the stock suspension. Lowering it is pretty much cosmetic.

The "S" has adjustable camber from the factory. However, it can only compensate for so much. My alignment guy was able to get me -1 deg front and -2 deg rear with the stock adjustments lowered on the Espelir springs.

ya alignments are always fun ( i do them from time to time at my pa's shop) i gotta say tho, when i had coilovers on my impreza, the adj. pillowball upper mounts were amazing changing camber was so easy, i could go all the way to -3, but only went -1.5 cause i didnt dump the car that much and i didnt want rediculous tire wear, and even when you compensate with toe in, you still get mad wear

I don't think a basic alignment is going to be enough accomodate for a 2 inch drop in the S. A camber kit is a kit designed to adjust the effects of an altered (lowered) suspension. This kit will correct how the tires will tentatively lean inside toward the vehicle from the top. Check out the below link, it briefly explains camber and the effects of lowering your car. Personally I think you can get away with a regular alignment with a drop 1 - 1.3inch drop; 1.3 - 1.5 mmmmmm.... maybe; but if you are going for 2inches or more, I would get the camber kit. Thats just me. Hope this helps... http://www.slickcar.com/info_what_is_camber.asp

That is REALLY low. I would also say that you will need new shocks to go with the springs. The OEM shocks aren't designed for duty at that low of a ride height.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Struts? I thought the S didn't have struts - shocks only.

IMO its really not worth it to do full coil overs unless your trackin your car and lookin for .500 of a faster lap time. Some guys on this site got them but they are in to alot of auto cross and track days. I have Tein S spings 1' drop and koni sport shocks that i get another 1/2 to 3/4 inch drop. With that set up i needed no camber kit and got my camber set back to factory settings but it is maxed out. Any lower and i would have needed to get a camber kit. Just for the purpose of not eating tires up. with in 6 to 8 months. I used my stock shocks for my spings when i first got them but about 11 months after I got them i blew a front one. Now with a 2' drop on stock shocks it may not last that long? Dont really know may last just as long if not abit more.

"put the rear springs in front/front springs in rear"

So if you did'nt do this, basically your headlights would be pointing up? Why would they even make springs like that?

I doubt they will fit if not placed in the correct position. My Espelir coils did away with the "raked" look the car has stock and levelled it out.

i got Tien springs.............

I put 280 pounds of weight distriputed evenly to help settle the car faster and hoping that will lower it more than the advertise 1~ 1 1/2 inch drop.

its been a week, and 500 miles. still have the weights in there.
its not at low as i like.

thinking of getting skunk springs to get the maximum lowering.

What do you guys think? And does putting the weight in the car help at all? A mechanic told me it doesnt because the springs are made to settle at certain point and no more.

HOW ARE THE SKUNK SPRINGS GOING FOR YOU? seems good i hope. is the front wheel scraping the top when you do a full turn?
hows the ride on the skunk?

tien is good. just not low enough. maybe i should get low profile tires on my stock rims?
