Yeah, weak rubber would scream, but'd still stick as long as the road was dry.

If ya godditt used n' you're ridin' on whut it came with, first go check the tire pressures, next verify that the tire sizes are what and where they should be n' then see if you've possibly godda mix-n'-match set'a hoops that're guaranteed for 3 days 'r the end'a the driveway . . whichever comes first. Sometimes in the heat'a purchase things like that get missed.
If, on the other hand you've had it since new, disregard the above n' go read another post.

This is a used car i was driving, (With new tyres) at low speed steering from lock to lock was fine. but on a twisty road i noticed this a vauge feeiling and the front wouldnt really grip straight away. The car looks perfect im just worried if this is because of the chassis being bent from an accident or something.

If yer thinkin' bent chassis kane, these posts ain't gonna determine nothin'. If you've checked the obvious n' you think that there might be somethin' amiss with the chassis, that requires a professional look-see.

I wonder, were you braking? I've found understeer if I hit a curve while foolishly trying to slow down - gun it and control comes right back.

Nah not braking..this was driving around a twisty road and it was happining mostly during the initial turn in. but it would hook up and power out ok.

yep it was tire pressure..

Bumped em up to 38 psi

Now it handles like a go kart!!

That's too high. You're gonna wear out the center of the tread and probably go for a wild ride when the road is wet. Check your door sticker.

Manufacturerz of the vehicle always give you an idea of what the tires call for pressure-wize which not only allows their vehicle to perform optimally, but aids the vehicles, the tires and your life expectancy.
Goin' from an unchecked too-low condition to an over-inflated condition is only changin', not correctin' your problem.

check the driver's door or the owner's manual for the correct pressure.

the manufacturer knows best.

38 psi leaves you open to a whole lot of compromises.

loss of traction can cause an off-road experience, and where i am from that can cause a lot worse than embarrassment--not a whole lodda clear spin-out room, to quote a famous honda f-1 driver.

38 PSI is going to make you understeer more. Should be running 32 PSI in the front and 30 PSI in the back for aggressive driving to give you a good balance. I can get the car to understeer on canyon drives, but almost exclusively on downhill right hand turns. Understeer going in, oversteer coming out!! Right, Morg??

The car had 32 psi all round when i drove it.. but i could feel the tyre wall folding as i changed direction. the tyres are hankook ventus. i know its way above 32 but it seems to be the right pressure for these tyres.. maybe the s02's ect have harder side walls and work well at 32 psi. but these seem to be at their best with a high pressure..

But I do remember some'a the folks on one'a the Miata sites goin' on about real soft sidewalls on some Hankookz. Ya might be experiencin' some'a that.
Aaay . . 'z'long'z it ain't slidin' out from under ya at every opportunity n' if ya ain't spittin' chiclets (teeth) I guess the higher pressure'z workin' for yuh with those particular hoops, but yuh really godda stay on toppa them, monitorin'-wize.
A couple'a poundz'a pressure in the daily beater don't mean diddly. In Stewie it'll have yuh off-road in'a dust cloud wonderin' how yuh got there.

I put a set of Hancooks on my daughters beater-gt. They've got a 100,000 miles treadwear guarantee. Must be pretty hard compound. At 38 psi, I think you may get a bit squirrely in the rain. Be careful.

These are just the tires the car came with.. I'm gonna be getting some rims for it soon and I'll be replacing the tires for sure.. i will be researching the next set of tires carefully. these hankooks ain't bad, they are the performance spec, silica compound etc.. but i would not have bought them myself.

PS... i put the pressures back down to 32 psi and they felt horrible.

35 -36 feels ok but 38 feels like the best compromise.. you could go to 40 even !!
