Mix/match tires question???

Bought my baby 2weeks ago used. She has 2 different sets of tires on 'er. Is this not a good thing? Bridgestone 225/50R16 (rear) Yokahama AS430 205/55R16 (front). Also have slight vibration at about 90mph. Not sure if it may just need a wheel balancing tho. Going to replace wheels and tires when these wear out but if its a bad combo I'll do it sooner. Thnx guys

I don't think it should be a problem as the long as the fronts and rears are matched pairs. But I would get them balanced, and check to make sure there are no bubbles in the tread(could be causing the vibrations, altho not super common). If there are bubbles or imperfections in the rubber it could cause a blowout... Blowout=Bad news...

Have you had it aligned?

In my conversations with Jim at Tire Rack (he is THE guy to talk to there when it comes to the S2000), he specifically told my NOT to have different makes of tires on the car. I would suggest getting matching pairs.

Ditto whut Go said. It's not ta say that it's a harbinger'a doom, but it could be.
A tire of less grip in the rear than whut'z on the front could take the normal oversteer to nasty levels n' it's not somethin' that mere mortals can tell.
Trust the guy'z at the 'Rack.

when I bought my S the guy that sold it to me made sure to match everything. Left me on 205's all around. I felt a straight civic stance.

Anyways, I handled that problem quick. 205's in the front, 245's in the rear.
Sure feels good to take those turns....... hard

NL - The newer cars come stock with 215/45-17 up front and 245/40-17 rears.

Good point. This car takes some getting used to. Very different from most in terms of handling.

On a side note, my car rides great at 90+. No shakes at all. Maybe it is something he should look into...

Just my .02, which is only worth about .01 now-a-days..

I guess mine is too old

its a 2001 and my front and rear tires are the same size....What should I do? Keep it that way or do the new school way?

I don't think different tires brands could cause vibration. you can check other suspension components to be sure...
