Price Comparison Anyone?

Well I just ticked another 10K miles so we all know what that means..... thats right NEW TIRES!!

I truly dig the Rack (Tire Rack) as many members do, but has anyone ever done a price comparison comparing other leading, reputable companies that sell tires. The last time I bought tires from the rack I took them to Discount to get installed and the rep swears up and down that after the cost of installation, I was out more than $25 per tire, same brand, compared to if I would have just bought direct from the store.

I can afford buying tires frequently but I never believed in wasting money so can anyone shed some validity to his claim or is he trying to slip me a mickey in an effort to get my business.

why don't you just call and get a quote from Discount and compare? seems easy enough. and get a quote for installation as well. and get a quote from Tire Rack. just do the math. a dollar saved is a dollar earned. $100 ain't what it used to be but it is still a bit of money. i am like you in that i do not like to waste greenbacks. no sense in pithing them away.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Its hard to compare pricing because certain tire salesmen can make special discounted "adjustments" to the final price that includes istallation. I get what you are syaing though. Its difficult to compare but not impossible. I was just curious to get input from other members.

That gives me an idea. Maybe I should name my price based on tire prices off the rack and what I want to pay installation included.

Joe, it'z a given'att any salesperson'z gonna swear on'a stack'a biblez'att he'd'a sold yuh the same 'zack tires fer half the price.
'Think that tune'd change if yuh pudd'im on'a spot n' said okay?
I'm in agreement that our hard-earned should be spent wisely n', if you actually can, purchase'a the same product fer a lesser price is jus' good business (from the user end'a things), but I don't know how much stock you can put in a salesmanz (C'mon gang, we're talkin' folks whut aspire ta be lawyerz n' politicianz here) tryin'a make ya feel like you should'a fattened his wallet.
'Ain't sayin'att a better deal ain't possible.
'S'jus' highly unlikely that a salesman, in'a throes'a spiel'z gonna say anythin' tha'cha kin' rely on.
Be well,
Java
